Twitter is working on a new called “Twitter Articles”

Published:

It appears like Twitter is aiming to launch a new feature dubbed “Twitter Articles” in the near future. Apparently, according to a snapshot posted by Jane Manchun Wong, the social media platform is now testing a new approach to generating articles and long-form pieces within the app itself. If this proves to be accurate, then individuals will be able to express themselves more effectively in the future.

The character restriction per tweet at the moment makes it impossible for individuals to put everything in a single message, which is understandable. In 2017, the character limit on the microblogging site was increased from 140 to 280 characters. Now, it appears like Twitter is aiming to introduce a new feature dubbed “Twitter Articles” that would allow users to publish longer texts on the microblogging site.

However, while there are no specifics on how Twitter Articles will function, the screenshot indicates that the site will include a section dedicated to this functionality. It is possible that the functionality will not be confined to specific types of accounts, as has been suggested. This is fantastic since the opportunity to write without being restricted by a character restriction might provide people with a significant amount of relaxation.

However, there is a possibility that Twitter will restrict access to this function to Super Followers or Twitter Blue members only, in order to improve the value of the Blue subscription service in general. This service is now unavailable worldwide and is only available in certain countries such as the United States, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. The subscription has a monthly fee of $2.99, which is equivalent to about Rs 223 in Indian currency every month. It is also presently uncertain whether or not the microblogging site would monetize its pieces in the near future.

Tweets regarding Twitter Articles were shared with CNET by a Twitter spokeswoman, who stated that the company is “always exploring into new ways to help people start and engage in discussions” and that additional information about the service would be released shortly.

A new feature called “continuous threads” was introduced in 2020, which allows users to join several tweets to a single lead tweet, making a lengthy message more legible and simpler to follow. Twitter, on the other hand, did not eliminate the 280-character restriction per tweet for threads. Users who find it difficult to fit everything into a single tweet may soon find some comfort with the introduction of the Twitter Articles feature.
