OnePlus has canceled the plan of creating a new “unified os” operating

A OnePlus spokesperson has stated that the company would no longer be merging ColorOS and OxygenOS, which will likely come as a huge relief to a large number of consumers. This was stated by the company’s CEO, Pete Lau, in a blog post in which he discussed the company’s future prospects.

In a long-awaited clarification, the brand has provided more information about its connection with Oppo. OnePlus said in September 2021 that it will combine the ColorOS and OxygenOS custom skins into a single “unified” operating system that would be available to both Oppo and OnePlus customers. It has now been verified that both bespoke user interfaces will continue to be created on the same codebase, but will be developed in a different manner. This explains why the firm is still selling OxygenOS, despite the fact that the company had previously said that the unified operating system will be available on the following flagship series in 2022, which did not materialize.

The following statement is made: “While OxygenOS and ColorOS will continue to be built on the same codebase to enable for faster upgrades and improved build quality, OxygenOS and ColorOS will remain separate brand properties.” In a blog post, Pete Lau said that the new route was chosen in response to comments from the community. “We recognize that users of OxygenOS and ColorOS want each operating system to stay different from the other, with its own distinct qualities,” he said of the new course.

Furthermore, Lau confirmed the release of OxygenOS 13, however, he did not provide any details on what the future upgrade will include. He did remark that the new software upgrade will “retain its unique aesthetic appearance as well as a range of special customization tools.” He did not elaborate on this.

We aim to create an experience that long-time OnePlus consumers will be acquainted with while also ensuring that it respects the trademarks of OxygenOS, such as a quick and seamless interface, burdenless design, and simplicity of use,” the company said.

In the same tweet, Lau also stated that the OnePlus 10 Pro got a positive reception in China and that the firm is now preparing to launch its latest flagship smartphone in additional countries, including India, as a result of the positive response. While the exact date of the formal debut has yet to be determined, Lau has indicated that it will take place around March of this year.

Oppo has also stated that it would release a smartphone in the second quarter of 2022, with the device including compatibility for the company’s newest 150W SuperVOOC technology. OnePlus is now including a 65W fast charger with the majority of its smartphones. Live television is available.
