What is Tiny10? How different it is from Windows?

Published:

Windows 11 offers a lot of great features, however, there are some UI inconsistencies that Rectify11 has rectified to a big extent. In addition, Microsoft has added a number of additional features to Windows 10 since then. New features, useless programs, and duplicate background services clog both Windows 10 and 11 to the point that they’re unusable. When compared to Windows 7, Windows 10/11 feels a lot heavier. Tiny10, a lightweight version of Windows 10, has just been launched by a developer in an effort to strip Windows 10 down to its minimal bones. It’s smaller in size, runs on low-RAM systems, and doesn’t include any unnecessary software. Continue reading to learn more about Tiny10 and how to set it up.

NTDEV is the developer behind Tiny10, a stripped-down version of Windows 10. This project tries to eliminate all the unneeded components from Windows, which we know to be the case at this time. Even on low-end hardware, you can run Windows 10 without a hitch. Tiny10 isn’t simply removing junk; it has been optimized from the bottom up to decrease the footprint of Windows 10.

Tiny10, for example, uses just 5.2GB of disc space when installed on a 32-bit machine, which is a significant achievement. Up to 22GB of storage space is required for a basic Windows 10 setup. To minimize the installation size by 17GB is a fantastic achievement. Tiny10 can need up to 10GB of disc space on 64-bit platforms. You can run Tiny10 on a 32-bit system with just 1GB of RAM, and on a 64-bit system, with 2GB of RAM, which is nothing short of incredible. By now, it’s no secret that Windows 10 runs slowly even on systems with 4GB of RAM.
Now, you might be wondering if Windows 10 lacks functionality because it has been stripped down to such a minimal footprint. Tiny10 was thoroughly tested by me, and I found no issues. PowerShell, CMD, Disk Management, and other Windows system utilities are accessible. Geekbench, CrystalDisk, ShareX, and games like CS:GO all worked without a hitch on my system. Because we’re running Tiny10’s first x64 beta, this is a complete surprise to me as well. However, I’m confident in saying that Tiny10 won’t leave you disappointed in terms of features.

How to install Tiny10?
Tiny10 has eliminated all of the basic programs, such as the picture viewer, internet explorer, and media player, from the system. When using this stripped-down version of Windows 10, just Notepad and Wordpad are available In addition, Tiny10 does not come pre-installed with Microsoft Store or Windows security features. The apps you desire will have to be sideloaded.

Windows Subsystem for Linux is not supported, however, Hyper-V can be enabled. Tiny10 x64 Beta 1 runs Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC on the Windows side (Build 19044.1586, March 2022). A Windows license will work to activate Tiny 10, but you will not be able to get any Windows updates while using Tiny 10.

Because of its small file size and minimal RAM and disc space requirements, Tiny10 is a perfect choice for people who wish to run Windows 10 on a low-end PC with limited resources. In addition, Chrome OS Flex is a fantastic alternative, but it does not allow full-fledged Windows applications. Tiny10 can step in and breathe fresh life into old PCs in this situation.

Tiny10 and Windows 10 are not the same.

Tiny10, on the other hand, is noticeably faster and more responsive than Windows 10. Tiny10 does not include any unnecessary software. The developer has eliminated all of the bloatware, superfluous programs, services, and system components. You can see the change in the Start menu in the screenshot below.

Like Windows 10, Tiny10 is extremely light on resources. Tiny10 took up just 10.5GB of space on my 64-bit PC, but a fresh install of Windows 10 took up 22.2GB.

Getting Started with Tiny10 (Stripped Down Windows 10)

Depending on your system architecture, you can download the Tiny10 ISO. It comes in 32-bit and 64-bit (2.4GB). Our initial scan of the files on VirusTotal came up clear, which is a positive indication.

Download Rufus to make a bootable USB drive from this site.

Plug your USB drive into Rufus and choose an ISO image. Then click “Start” to begin the process. Get the NTFS File System.

We recommend downloading certain files while the flashing procedure is in progress so that you don’t have to deal with any issues. Because Tiny10 doesn’t come with a built-in browser, we recommend that you use the standalone version of Google Chrome that may be found here. After that, move it to the USB drive’s root directory. It’s also possible to use a utility such as Driver Booster to keep your drivers up-to-date.

Restart the computer after plugging in the USB drive. Press the boot key (one of the function keys – F9, F8, F7, etc.) when the PC restarts. If you don’t know your PC or laptop’s boot key, you can check it up online. Hit Enter when you get to the boot screen and pick your USB disc.

Tiny10’s setup window, which is quite similar to Windows 10’s, will now appear on your PC. Once you’ve followed the on-screen directions, select the drive you desire. Click “Next” to proceed with the OS installation.

You will boot right into Tiny10 when the installation is complete. Windows 10’s minimalist design is a delight to use!
