Apple Users on RISK *HIGH ALERT by Indian Government*

Published:

There is a cyber-security alert for Apple customers from India’s Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology. A high-risk warning has been issued by the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) for Mac users who are still using the outdated software.. If you’re using Safari on a device that doesn’t have the latest version, CERT-In has recommended you to upgrade immediately. Previous Safari versions may have been abused by hackers in an attempt to take over your Mac, the warning adds.

Apple recently released macOS Monterey 12.4, which included over 50 security patches for the Safari web browser. Hackers may be able to gain access to your devices through some of the weaknesses that have been fixed. These programs have the potential to run arbitrary code as if they had access to the kernel. As a result, hackers may be able to acquire root access to your Mac if they manage to take advantage of these flaws. According to the CERT-In warning, these vulnerabilities exist in prior macOS versions, and your Mac may be vulnerable if it is running one of them.

Apple Safari for macOS Big Sur and macOS Catalina are vulnerable owing to memory corruption and use-after-free in the WebKit component, according to a government alert obtained by the Times of India. To exploit these vulnerabilities, an attacker may trick the user into visiting malicious online content,” says the researcher.

Software upgrades for the iPhone and Mac were released by Apple earlier this week. It released iOS 15.5 for the iPhone and iPad. The macOS Monterey 12.4 update was published by Apple for Macs. Despite the lack of new features for end users, these patches provide several performance and security enhancements. In these upgrades, Apple resolved more than 30 issues on the iPhone and iPad, as well as more than 50 flaws in macOS. Furthermore, Apple released these defects not just for the most recent versions of iOS and macOS, but also for previously supported versions.

In addition to security improvements, new versions of the program include enhancements in other areas as well. Now that the Apple Cash card is integrated into the Apple Wallet, users may request or transfer money to other app users who are also Apple Cash card holders. While previous episodes are erased from local storage, newer episodes can now be stored on the user’s device.
