The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) may soon implement a Truecaller-like caller ID service, so you won’t have to worry about them anymore. When you get a phone call, the system would display the caller’s name based on the caller’s identity verification (KYC) information. It is the government’s goal to replace Truecaller, which provides comparable services, with its current caller ID programme.

If the caller’s name has not been added to the contact list, Truecaller shows the caller’s name on the screen. Falsely, Truecaller displays a name that is not based on the KYC. Truecaller shows the user-defined name. Apps like this one rely on crowdsourced information, which raises questions about their credibility.
It has been approved by the Department of Telecom (DoT) to begin development on the caller id function by the TRAI. By the time it’s ready, the regulator will have started working on it, TRAI Chairman PD Vaghela said, according to the PTI. “After receiving a reference, we’ll get started on this project right away. When someone phones, the name as per KYC will be shown. To comply with DoT regulations, the mechanism would allow the display of a user’s name on their phone’s screen once they have completed the KYC process “In response to this, Vaghela stated her opinion.
Users will not be required to utilise the caller ID function. The TRAI claims that it will be a voluntary initiative based on consent. In the future, subscribers will be able to pick whether or not their names will appear on the site. Spam calls will no longer be a problem.
According to a Truecaller spokeswoman, the company welcomes the government’s decision to implement this measure since it would help make communication safer and more efficient.
“It is critical to preventing spam and fraudulent calls, and Truecaller has been working relentlessly on this objective for the past 13 years. We appreciate Trai’s decision, and we want to reaffirm our support for this and any other efforts they may have in the future “a spokeswoman for the company explained.
