Over the next five years, Microsoft has a lot of ambitious ambitions for Windows. The news that Microsoft would shift to a release schedule of major versions of Windows every three years was first broken by our senior editor Zac Bowden in an exclusive piece last week. This is a substantial departure from the approach that the corporation has taken in the past. The multinational technology corporation is now considering releasing a significant new version of Windows in 2024, which would be three years after the first release of Windows 11.
People from all across the world have been discussing the name of the future version of Windows despite the fact that Bowden’s article didn’t make any guesses about what it would be called. We didn’t bother attempting to figure out what Microsoft would title the next version of Windows, so instead, we asked you to suggest a name for the company’s future operating system. The results of the survey indicate that the overwhelming majority of our readers prefer Windows 12.
The name Windows 12 was selected as the most popular option for the upcoming major release of Microsoft Windows by just under 60 per cent of voters. 21.36 per cent of respondents urge Microsoft to do away with the numbering system entirely and simply refer to the operating system as “Windows.”
In the discussion thread about this issue that we have going on in our Discord forum, PNvmkpk made the comment, “I think they should start calling it depending on year like office and visual studio, internal version can remain with the present numbers.”
On Discord, Kiryuchaann made the following statement: “I believe simply continue with numbers to make it easy.” “Windows 12 should work without any problems. However, I am curious as to whether or not they will bypass Windows 13 owing to superstition. In that case, who knows, maybe they’ll come up with a real name?”
Heliod suggested that giving individuals names that are too difficult to remember might lead to confusion. “People have a hard time keeping track of which one came before, which one is new, and which one has been around the longest when you give each of them a unique and creative name. Et cetera, if you reduce it all to a single number, it is simple and clear to see which items are the updated versions and which are the previous versions.”
RodaczyskoX voiced the wish that Windows 11 will be the last iteration of the Windows operating system. “I have no interest in upgrading to Windows 10. Windows in the form of service. Windows 11 will be the final version of Windows.”
