Telegram states that Apple had a problem with its “higher-quality vector-animated version of standard Emoji.’
Who’d have thought that animated emojis would be this controversial?
Telegram President Pavel Durov says(Opens in a new window) Apple refused to approve the most recent version of the app for messaging until a set of animated Emoji (which to no one’s delight, Telegram refers to as Telemoji) were taken off.
The issue may be that Telegram created Telemoji over Apple’s Emoji. Although the emoji are all standard, different companies create their own interpretations of their own, which is the reason they differ across different platforms. Making an animated version of”grinning faces “grinning face” is fine, but making use of it as the “grinning face” emoticon that Apple offers along with iOS, macOS, etc. as the base for the animated emoji isn’t.
“After the extensive coverage in the media of my previous blog post,” Durov says, “Apple returned on us via a plea to reduce the pending Telegram update by eliminating Telemoji high-quality animated versions of the regular Emoji. […] It’s a baffling decision by Apple, as Telemoji could have added an entirely new dimension its low-resolution static emoji and could have greatly enhanced the ecosystem they have.”
Telegram has been compromised by removing Telemoji that is based on the Apple emoji in its app and not abandoning the feature altogether. Durov states that Telegram has launched 10 additional “emoji packs” that are compatible with the latest versions of Telegram for iOS, “together with the possibility for users to share their personal emojis” therefore, users should be able to choose from a variety of animation emojis pick from, despite the decision made at last minute to drop the controversial designs.
Telemoji is now available for Telegram Premium users. Telegram has added introduced(Opens in a new tab) an improved privacy setting for voice chats, an updated stickers, GIF with emojis, as well as a new sticker panel for iOS as well as the capability to offer Premium subscriptions as gifts to other users using the most recent update to the iOS application.
