Tumblr Live is launching for iOS and Android users in the US.
Tumblr is now able to support livestreaming through its video-based platform Livebox. The service is rolling through to US clients using iOS and Android right now, and the release to global users and desktop users is scheduled for the near future. The details are detailed in a blog post that calls the service Tumblr Live.
Tumblr has been able to stream previously, however it was able to let users stream from other platforms such as YouNow as well as YouTube. The new feature is described as an in-built Tumblr streaming service, powered by Livebox. (Livebox is managed under the Meet Group, a subsidiary of the dating app firm ParshipMeet Group.) Livebox allows users to pay streamers. By the same way, Tumblr will let you make payments to creators via the form of a virtual currency known as “Diamonds.” Livebox provides AImoderating powered by humans for streaming, as per an announcement in the press release. The service also allows streamers to designate users who are trusted as moderators. Livebox is thus that it is only supported for the principal Tumblr blog, and not for any additional blogs that are part of this account.
The feature will be available in the coming days with Tumblr operator Automattic is working to rejuvenate the blog platform it bought from Verizon in the year. Tumblr has seen the fruits of the recent chaos at Twitter it is emerging as an alternative to owner Elon Musk’s unpredictable policies. (Apparently the company wasn’t enough of an opportunity to be included in Twitter’s temporary ban on linking to rivals.) The streaming service isn’t expected to surpass Twitch or YouTube however, it does provide an additional medium as well as a fresh opportunity to earn moneyfor the artists-focused community.
