Google is updating its employee performance systems

Google is making big changes to its employees…

According to CNBC, a revised performance rating system is in place for Google employees. Workers will be more likely to get lower scores and less likely come out on top.

According to reports, company executives revealed how serious the changes could be at a recent all-hands meeting. The most striking change is that up to 6% could be placed in low-ranking positions by the tech giant, an increase of threefold over 2%.

From 27% to 22%, the number of employees likely to be in one of these highest categories will decrease.

The percentage of workers who score just average marks will not change, but it will be unchanged by one percentage point. However, this will have a negative impact on motivation and satisfaction.

Many employees voiced concern about the changes in the December all-hands. Although the company has not been affected by the massive cutbacks in tech industries over recent months due to global economic uncertainty, many fear that the GRAD changes could lead to layoffs.

The company plans to increase the compensation per capita for its workers as a way to motivate them. This and the 23% increase in its workforce year-over-year in Q3 2022 could indicate that Google is looking to improve average staff performance, while putting at-risk employees.
