WhatsApp: This New Feature Will Allow Users To Report Specific Messages

Published:

WhatsApp is currently testing a new feature that will allow users to report particular messages they have received on the app. As an addition to the existing report feature, which allows WhatsApp users to report persons and companies on the basis of the full conversation, this will allow users to report complete conversations.

WhatsApp is presently beta testing the new functionality with beta testers on Android and iPhone devices to ensure that it works properly. Despite the fact that WhatsApp has offered the option to report senders of abusive and spam messages for quite some time, abusive and spam messages continue to be widely distributed on the platform.
According to a post by WhatsApp beta tracker WABetaInfo, the WhatsApp for iOS beta versions 2.21.190.12 and 2.21.190.11 have included the ability for users to report particular messages on the platform, which was previously unavailable. According to the developer, this feature allows the app to relay only the reported message to WhatsApp while notifying the sender of the report.

When a discussion is reported on the site, WhatsApp has not made any public statements regarding whether it reads the most recent texts in the conversation. A recent report by ProPublica, on the other hand, suggested that Facebook, which is owned by Facebook, may employ some human-level moderation in such situations.

In any case, WABetaInfo points out that the new reporting procedure will be distinct from the current one, which requires that the user’s five most recent messages be transmitted to WhatsApp when reporting another user or company based on their chat.

Those using the beta version, on the other hand, may now see the new Report option when they tap and hold on to a specific message. It stands among the already-existing choices such as the Star, Reply, Forward, Copy, and Delete.

WABetaInfo has discovered the individual message reporting functionality present on the newest WhatsApp for Android beta releases, in addition to the iOS version. WhatsApp for Android beta version 2.21.20.1 is claimed to be offering the functionality to a significant number of beta testers, while some users of the previous version 2.21.19.15 have also reported seeing it on their phones.

If you’re using an Android device, you can get to the new report function by choosing a specific message and then touching the three-dot menu button in the top-right corner of the screen.

This isn’t the first time that WhatsApp has been discovered to be working on strengthening its reporting functionality. Previous attempts to combat abuse and spam messages on WhatsApp were comparable to those made in the past. However, the platform has not yet taken steps to prevent itself from becoming a valuable source for abusers and spammers all over the world
