Microsoft has established certain rigorous hardware requirements that your PC must fulfill in order to be able to run Windows 11, including compatibility for TPM 2.0. Therefore, not only outdated PCs but even virtual machines will be unable to upgrade from Windows 10, with the notice “this PC does not presently satisfy Windows 11 system requirements” appearing on your screen.
Moreover, even if you’ve already had Windows 11 running in a virtual machine, you may be prevented from upgrading since Windows Update will inform you that your system doesn’t satisfy the minimum requirements. However, even if your host machine is capable of supporting TPM, your virtualization program may not.
Fortunately, there is a straightforward solution to prevent the Windows Update or the Windows 11 installation from requiring TPM from being installed. A simple, open-source script called Universal MediaCreationTool written by a user named Aveyo will allow you to circumvent the TPM-checker and upgrade using Microsoft’s own installers, without the need for a third-party tool. We’ll go through how to utilize it in more detail below.
It should be noted that Microsoft has also developed an approved registry hack that allows users to circumvent TPM 2.0 and CPU restrictions. However, because this technique still requires at least TPM 1.2, it is completely ineffective if you do not have any TPM. If you want to give it a shot, we’ll chat about it at the bottom of this page.
How to Get Around the TPM Requirement in Windows 11
- Go to the GitHub website for Aveyo’s open-source Universal MediaCreationTool, which is hosted on GitHub. You don’t actually need the entire utility; only the script for bypassing TPM checks is required.
- Continue reading down to the section under “Skip TPM Check on Dynamic Update v2.cmd.”
- Select and copy all of the code for that specific file alone from step 3.
- Open Notepad and copy and paste the code into the document.
- Save the file to your desktop with the name disable-tpm-check.cmd.
- To start the program, double-click on the file.
- If you are asked if you want to enable Windows PowerShell to make changes to your device, select Yes.
“Skip TPM Check on Dynamic Update [Installed]” will appear in the PowerShell window once it has been launched. Please keep in mind that if you run it again, it will activate the TPM check.
If you are a member of the Insider Program, Windows Update will begin downloading and installing Windows 11 as soon as you finish. The update will be downloaded if you are already operating Windows 11 and have been denied access to the update.
It is possible to upgrade to Windows 11 without being a member of the Insider program by downloading a Windows 11 ISO file, saving it to a USB drive or optical disc, and running the setup.exe file from within your current operating system.
To Bypass Windows 11 TPM Officially, follow these steps.
Microsoft has released a registry hack that allows users to install Windows 11 on systems that do not satisfy all of the system requirements. This is done in the knowledge that some users would wish to install Windows 11 on systems that do not fulfill the system requirements.
It is possible to install on a system that has at least TPM 1.2 and an unsupported CPU by employing this exploit. Having said that, we prefer the scripts listed above because they do not necessitate the usage of any type of TPM.
- Launch the Registry Editor or Regedit.
- Navigate to the following path: HKEY LOCAL MACHINESYSTEMSetupMoSetup.
- AllowUpgradesWithUnsupportedTPMOrCPU should be created as a DWORD (32-bit) Value if it does not already exist in the registry.
- Increase the value of AllowUpgradesWithUnsupportedTPMOrCPU to 1.
- Start your computer when you’ve finished using regedit. If you are using Windows 10, you should now be able to update to Windows 11 from within the operating system using installation discs (provided you created it).
