In order to keep users on its own browser and away from competitors’, Microsoft has always been aggressive in this regard. Even after switching to the Chromium-based Edge browser, the software behemoth has been unable to maintain a competitive advantage in the browser war. A new panel found in the beta version of Microsoft Edge may be of assistance in this situation. The Games Panel is coming to the browser, and we have a sneak peek at what it will look like.
At this time, the panel is only accessible to a limited number of users. Redditor Leopeva64 shared a series of images depicting the new feature on the site. It is turned off by default and only appears in the most recent version of Edge Canary, which is currently in beta. If you want to use the Games Panel, you must first locate it under Settings > Appearance > Games button.
You will then notice a Games button on the omnibar, which is located directly next to the address bar, after you have completed this step. You will see a collection of HTML5 games if you choose to click on the button above. Several categories are available, including Arcade, Microsoft Classics, Board & Card, Puzzle, Sports, Casual, Match 3, and more.
These are just a few of the games that can be found in the Microsoft Edge Games Panel. Within each category, you’ll find the usual selection of Microsoft titles. There are many different games to choose from, including Solitaire, Sudoku, Minesweeper, Mahjong, and others. Other categories include titles such as tower defense, the Table Tennis World Tour, fishing games, darts and archery, and more, among other things.
There are no downloads required for these games. Because they are HTML5 games, you can play them right in your browser without having to download any additional files. The only catch is that you must be connected to the Internet in order for them to function.
Because the feature is still in the testing phase, it is unclear whether or not the games panel will make it into the final stable version of Microsoft Edge in the near future. For the time being, you must be a Microsoft Insider running the most recent build of Edge Canary in order to take advantage of the feature.
