Airbnb has decided to permanently ban parties at its rental properties

Airbnb has a strict policy on hosting parties at its properties, so if you were hoping to have a large event there, you’ll be disappointed. Since the number of reported cases of the Covid bird flu has increased, Airbnb has temporarily banned gatherings at its rental properties. The corporation has chosen, however, to make the restriction indefinite. The corporation announced the prohibition on parties and activities indefinitely via a corporate blog.

According to Airbnb, the temporary prohibition on parties has been so successful that the firm has decided to make it permanent. More than 6,000 visitors were banned from using Airbnb in 2017 due to rule violations, the business noted in a blog post. The corporation reported a 44% decrease in party reports from the previous year after enforcing the restriction in August 2020.

Disruptive parties and activities, especially those with open invitations, will remain illegal. Houses that are used as “party houses” will still be illegal. Guests who seek to break these guidelines will continue to face severe repercussions, ranging from account suspension to complete expulsion from the platform. More than 6,600 users were banned from Airbnb in 2021 for partying in violation of our rules. Airbnb said in a blog post that it offers hosts insurance through its programme called “AirCover for Hosts” in the event of property damage.

In addition, the 16-person occupancy limit that Airbnb instituted in 2020 due to covid will no longer be enforced. As a result, gatherings of more than 16 persons can now be hosted or booked at the rental property. Airbnb said that they will be modifying its policies in the upcoming months.

After five people died during a Halloween celebration at an Airbnb property in Orinda, California in 2019, the company amended its policies to restrict both “open-invite” parties (i.e., those publicised on social media) and “chronic party houses.” Furthermore, Airbnb at the time had developed a Neighborhood Support Line in some regions for neighbours to call with any complaints they might have.
