BGMI Ban: Removed from Google Play store and Apple Store

Published:

On Thursday evening, India unexpectedly stopped access to Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI), which is an alternative to PUBG Mobile developed by Krafton and released there just a few short months ago. The Google Play and Apple App stores have removed the battle royale game from their respective catalogues. PUBG New State, an additional game created by Krafton, may still be purchased in the nation. This fact is rather interesting.

Google has stated that this action was taken in response to a “government order,” in contrast to Apple’s lack of public comment on the topic. “On receipt of the order, following established process, we have notified the affected developer and have blocked access to the app that remained available on the Play Store in India,” a Google spokesperson said in an interview with India Today Tech. “On receipt of the order, we have blocked access to the app that remained available on the Play Store in India.”

The creator of BGMI is now collaborating with various agencies within the government in order to re-release the game on Google Play. Krafton has stated that the company does not know why the game was removed from the app store and that it has no idea why. “We are explaining how BGMI was taken from Google Play store and the App store and will let you know once we have precise information,” Krafton said to India Today Tech. “We are clarifying how BGMI was deleted from Google Play store and the App store.”

The issue that needs to be answered at this point is whether or not BGMI will be allowed to return to the Play store or if it has been permanently banned. The solutions are not straightforward.

At this time, BGMI has not been permanently restricted from use. Even though we do not know the specific reason why the software was removed from the Play store, it is reasonable to presume that this occurred because BGMI breached some regulation or set of standards that was established by the government of the country. Furthermore, this is not the first time that Google has restricted access to an application. When this occurs, app developers collaborate closely with government officials to find solutions to the problems that have been raised. It’s possible that Krafton is doing the same thing. According to a report by Reuters, the Indian government has not yet provided a response to the question that Krafton posed.

The PUBG Mobile counterpart known as BGMI is not yet downloadable from either the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store. Users who already have the game downloaded are able to play it, but they will report that they have received an update and will be required to log in once again.
