CERT-In requires users to update your Chrome browser on their PCs

The dependence on Internet is becoming a necessity and more so since the emergence of the Covid-19 pandemic that will trigger lockdowns beginning in early 2020. In the present, both schools and corporations have created a hybrid model which allows flexible schedules for students and workers to study or work in a physical location, and also the possibility to work from home on certain days of the course of a week.

However, the internet is not without dangers If not taken care of cybercriminals can destroy bank accounts and even attack computers to access personal images and videos to pay ransom or to steal sensitive information from official sources (corporate spying).

Additionally, it is the responsibility of businesses like Google, Microsoft, Apple and others to put forth efforts to prevent threats from their platforms. They do this by releasing timely security patches for their respective products.

In the most recent instance of the incident, officials from the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) has issued the users with a reminder to upgrade their Chrome browser as soon as they can. A security vulnerability was discovered on Chrome and the devices could be insecure and permit an attacker from afar to circumvent security limitations and execute malicious scripts on the targeted system.

Google has rolled out the security patch for the Chrome browser–v104.0.5112.101 for Mac and v104.0.5112.102 for Windows. The patch is rolling out in stages and may take a couple of days to get to all corners of the globe.

The bug is classified as serious, and details about the vulnerability are not accessible for public access until the roll-out process is completed.

“Access to bug information and other information may be indefinitely until a majority of users have been updated with the fix. We may also keep limitations in the event that the bug is in a third-party library other projects also depend on, but aren’t yet been fixed,” the company said.
