During the pandemic, Microsoft has embraced virtual events, and another one is on the way. Almost a year after Microsoft first announced Windows 11, the company’s April keynote focuses on software again.
‘Windows Powers the Future of Hybrid Work’ is the name of the event. It will be presented by Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella and Chief Product Officer Panos Panay, both of whom were prominent figures in the launch of Windows 11 earlier this year..
In terms of upcoming announcements, Microsoft hasn’t said much. If it’s hosted on the company’s corporate site, it’s likely to be of interest to large businesses and corporations, but there’s likely to be something of interest to consumers as well. Everything we’ve learned so far about the event is included here.
Windows 11 hybrid work event of Microsoft is scheduled
On Tuesday, April 5th, 2022, Microsoft says the event will take place. At 8 a.m. PT, which is 11 a.m. PT, 4 p.m. BST, or 5 p.m. CEST, the event begins.
Microsoft’s Windows 11 hybrid work event can be streamed live, but how?
There is currently only one confirmed location from which you can watch the game live. From around the world, you can access Microsoft’s US site, which includes this information. As a bonus, you’ll also be able to add the event to your personal calendar.
In the same vein as the Windows 11 launch, Microsoft may live stream the event on the official Windows YouTube channel. That hasn’t been confirmed yet, however.
Expectations for the Windows 11 hybrid work conference
It’s unclear what attendees can expect from Microsoft’s event beyond the announcement that it will center on “hybrid working.” Since it’s on the company’s corporate website, it’s unlikely to be geared toward consumers, but there should be something of interest to Windows 11 users everywhere.
With the 22H2 feature update expected to be officially announced, there are likely to be a lot of new features. According to recent rumors, it will be released in July, making this a logical release date.
Tabs in File Explorer, drag-and-drop in the taskbar, new touch gestures, and wallpaper stickers are just a few of the rumors floating around. Widgets may one day include support for third-party applications as well.
Windows 365, Microsoft’s cloud-based PC subscription service, may also get an upgrade. A hybrid work event wouldn’t be complete without a mention of Microsoft Teams, and an update to the web versions of Microsoft Office apps has been in the works for some time.
Since there will be so many Surface devices available in 2021, new hardware is highly unlikely. The Surface Laptop Go is the only core product due for an upgrade, but a new model is expected later in the spring.
