Gmail Offline: Many people use Gmail because it is the best email service available. There are more than 1.8 billion Gmail users, and Google’s email service controls 18% of the global market for email clients. Plus, almost 75% of all Gmail users use the service through mobile device. For this reason, Google has released the option to temporarily disable online access to Gmail.

The Mountain View, California, tech giant claims that its customers will soon be able to access their Gmail messages offline and perform basic operations including reading, replying to, and searching for messages. This is a game-changing addition from Google and will be especially useful in less-connected or internet-less locations, such as rural areas. Turning on Gmail’s offline access is similarly straightforward. How it works:
- The URL you need is mail.google.com. Google has said that in order to use Gmail when offline, you must be using Google Chrome and not the Incognito mode of the browser.
- You may access your inbox’s configuration options by selecting the gear icon.
- Select “See All Options” to view all of your preferences.”
- When you get there, select “Offline” from the menu “tab.
- A button labelled “Enable offline mail” “In other words, a box to check. At the instant you select the box, Gmail will update its interface to reflect your selection.
- You can choose to have Gmail sync only the most recent N days of your inbox.
- Google not only displays the amount of free space on your device, but also provides you the option to either keep offline data on your device or delete it entirely.
- After deciding what offline information to preserve and what to delete, you can save your modifications by clicking the “Save Changes” button “And offline access to Gmail on your computer will be enabled.
