Google is expected to launch its first foldable smartphone, the Pixel Notepad this year.

Despite the fact that Google’s long-awaited first foldable Pixel phone did not appear in 2021 as previously predicted, evidence continues to grow that the company will soon introduce foldable devices. Google’s rumoured foldable phone, which is rumoured to be named the Pixel Notepad, might come as early as 2022, according to a storey published earlier this week.

Until now, the majority of people have referred to it as the Pixel Fold, however, the most recent leak implies that it may be referred to as the Pixel Notepad rather. This Notepad moniker, however, is intriguing because there has been no previous mention of a stylus or pen option for Google’s Notepad product.

When it comes to naming strategies for smartphones, Google’s Pixel Notepad is a deviation from the company’s regular practice of calling its devices. The Pixel line of smartphones, which have numbers or single alphabets connected with them, like the Pixel 6 and Pixel 5a, has been the primary focus of the company’s marketing efforts.

The Pixel Notepad will be available at a cheaper cost than could be anticipated. According to 9to5Google, it is projected to be less expensive than the $1799 (about Rs. 1,34,000) price tag for the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 in the United States last year. A price of Rs. 149,999 was set for the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 when it was first introduced in India.

In the most recent Android 12L Beta 2 release, new animations were discovered that represent the process of inserting a SIM card into the next foldable phone.

Multiple sources claim that the animations for the SIM configuration page indicate a smartphone with a prominent foldable display rather than the traditional single-screen design. The SIM card port is positioned at the bottom of the device, while the volume rocker controls are located on the lower right side of the device. Additionally, a connection is visible in the top and bottom centres of the rumoured Google Pixel Notepad, which appears to be the hinge.

While it is expected to be packed with the same Google Tensor processor that drives the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro smartphones, the Pixel Notepad foldable smartphone may have a lower-quality camera when compared to the Pixel 6 series.

According to industry analysts, the Pixel Notepad will launch in a similar manner as the Pixel 4a in 2020, with Google launching the device initially in the United States before spreading its availability to other countries.

There have been several rumours concerning the Pixel Notepad, and for a period it appeared like the gadget had been completely scrapped from the schedule. Although the Pixel Notepad is not yet officially announced, the current information indicates that it is in the last stages of development and will be released later this year.

In related news, Google said that it will temporarily impose weekly COVID-19 testing for everyone who enters Google headquarters or facilities in the United States for the time being. All employees entering Google’s US operations will be subjected to a negative drug test, and they will be compelled to wear surgical-grade masks while at work, according to the corporation.
