How to Install Google PlayStore on Windows 11 Stable & Every Version

Published:

Android apps may now be run on Windows for the first time. Windows 11 has built-in support for Android applications, games, and alerts. However, only Windows Insiders get access to the Amazon Appstore. The original Windows Subsystem for Android (WSA) may still be used on Windows 11 owing to a few package modifications. Use this method to set up the Google Play Store on your Windows 11 computer.

Android Windows Subsystem: What Is It and How Does It Work?

In a Hyper-V virtual environment, Windows Subsystem for Android (WSA) allows Android apps to run on a Windows device.

Based on the Android Open-Source Project, the application is a virtualized Android operating system (AOSP). When Windows Subsystem for Android has been installed, it may be found under “Apps & Features” in Windows 11 and removed there.

As an approved partner of the Amazon Appstore, the Windows Subsystem for Android interfaces with Microsoft’s Microsoft Store. Both Windows Subsystem for Android and the Amazon Appstore is now exclusively accessible to Windows Insiders in the Beta Channel residing in the United States. Follow the instructions in the last portion of this installation tutorial to become an insider.

Microsoft is expected to run the Windows Subsystem for Android Beta for Android apps in Windows 11 for some time in order to improve the user experience.

Installing Google Play on Windows 11

There are two WSA package changes now available on GitHub for the Windows Subsystem for Android (WSA). To install WSA and Google Play Store, you can use either an open-source program or a commercial one. Two methods are PowerShell Windows Toolbox and MagiskOnWSA

On a Windows 10 device, neither approach will work. To use WSA, you’ll need Windows 11.

Using the PowerShell Windows Toolbox, you may install Google Play on Windows 11.

Open-source GitHub code for this Windows PowerShell toolkit is available. The one-click installation makes it the fastest way because it does not necessitate the installation of any other software.

  • Copy the code under “Easy Start command” from the “How to Use” section of the GitHub website to your Clipboard.
  • Click Start, type “PowerShell” into the search box, and PowerShell will appear in Administrator mode on Windows 11. Refresh the search if you don’t see Admin options for PowerShell.
  • Enter the GitHub code that you copied and pasted into the PowerShell window. Wait a few seconds if the procedure appears to be stalled.
  • There will be initialization of the Windows Toolbox after a time. While the PowerShell window is active, the Toolbox will be launched in a different window.
  • Reinstalling Microsoft Store, uninstalling OneDrive, and cleaning up Start menu tiles are all possible using the Windows Toolbox. Right-click on “Install Google Play Store for Windows 11” and select “Install.”
  • If you have the Virtual Machine Platform disabled on your system, you’ll need to activate it in order to utilise the Play Store. Be certain it’s running by typing “yes” into the confirmation box.
  • Windows Subsystem for Android will be removed and replaced if you already have a copy installed on your system. To proceed, type P.
  • In order to access the WSA zip file, click on the small URL address created by the package.
  • Wait for the zip file to finish downloading on the download page in your web browser.
  • A convenient spot on your computer, such as the desktop, is the best place to save the downloaded file. Enter the location by copying and pasting its complete path.
  • We’ll uninstall the previous version of WSA and then install it from scratch.
  • Check your device’s app list to see whether WSA and Google Play have been added to the list.
  • Skip to the next way if you are unable to install Google Play using this Powershell code.

What to Do Before Using MagisOnWSA to Install Google Play Store

Turn ON Developer Mode.

  • Find “Developer settings” in the Windows 11 Search box or Start menu search.
  • To install software from any source, even loose files, activate “Developer mode.”

Install Android Apps in a Virtual Machine

Because WSA runs on Hyper-V, you’ll need to make sure your Windows 11 computer has the necessary virtualization settings set up.

  • “Windows security” and “Device security” may be entered into the search box and clicked on.
  • To configure the adjustments, select “Memory integrity” under “Core Isolation.”
  • To make the modifications take effect, restart the device. Updates are currently being implemented. Keep your PC running at all times.”
  • Afterwards, put “Turn Windows features on or off” in the search bar.
  • “Virtual machine platform” and “Windows Hypervisor Platform” should both be set to “on.”
  • Virtualization modifications will take a few minutes to be implemented on your device.
  • The specified modifications will be applied after a system restart.

Using MagiskOnWSA, install Google Play on Windows 11

Magisk is used to gain root access in this approach. Magisk and open Google Apps are integrated onto most Android devices by a developer who has adapted the standard Microsoft WSA package. A GitHub repository provides a secure download link, and the app runs smoothly with Windows 11.

  • Install the custom WSA by logging into your GitHub account online and going to the repository URL.
  • To keep the repository on your GitHub profile, click “Fork.”
  • This menu modification is readily visible in your GitHub repository. To proceed, click “Actions.”
  • If your GitHub repository does not allow workflows, then you must activate that option by selecting “I understand my workflows, go ahead and enable them.”
  • Click “Run workflow” to get started with preparing the downloaded files.
  • Status message: “Workflow run was successfully requested” is now shown. The very minimum in Android app packages is “pico,” while “full,” which includes all of AOSP’s official applications, is “full.”
  • An “in-process” state is shown as the workflow begins. Let the procedure run its course for a few minutes.
  • “task completed” or “xx jobs completed” should be displayed as a status once the download files are ready. Click on “Show All Jobs” to see the whole list of responsibilities.
  • With Magisk installed, you can view the WSA software and Android app software. Depending on the version of your computer, select the appropriate download link (ARM4 or x4).
  • The download begins, and the zip file of the repository will be saved to your PC.

WSA and Google Play be installed using the MagiskOnWSA tool.

Windows Subsystem for Android (WSA) and Google Play is included in Windows 11 and maybe installed using these instructions.

  • WSA’s zip file can be found on your PC’s desktop or another easily accessible area.
  • Extract all the files to the same directory using 7-Zip, WinRAR, or equivalent archive tools.
  • Locate and open the “Install” PowerShell script located in the unzipped folder. PowerShell may be launched by right-clicking on it and selecting Open with > PowerShell.
  • To run the script, a PowerShell window will open. It’s possible that a few permissions are necessary. To make sure you want to proceed, type “a.”
  • Deployment should be completed in a matter of seconds, so be patient.
  • As soon as the PowerShell script completes, your Windows 11 device will be able to look for the Windows Subsystem for Android by default. In addition to Google Play, it has been installed as a part of the overall package.

After Installing Google Play Store on Windows 11: Must Checks

No matter how you install WSA on Windows 11 (using the Windows PowerShell Toolbox or MagiskOnWSA), there are additional actions that need to be taken to get WSA up and running after the installation.

  • Make sure “Developer mode” is activated in WSA Settings via a Start menu search.
  • For WSA, set up the “optional diagnostic data” option. You have the option of turning it on or off.
  • Wait a few seconds for the WSA applications to start up and begin working. This task requires at least 8 GB of RAM to be completed.
  • Open Google Play Store by returning to the Search menu and clicking on it.
  • Log into your Google Play Services account to complete the installation. Do not rush through the upgrades.
  • Verify that Google Play Store is correctly loaded on your smartphone and that installing apps is straightforward.
