Instagram is now allowing users to record Reels for 90 seconds

Published:

Previously, users were only allowed to record Reels on Instagram for a maximum of 60 seconds; this time restriction has been increased to 90 seconds. Since the introduction of Reels about two years ago, at the same time that TikTok was being restricted in India, this is the first time that Instagram has increased the length of time that users may upload short videos to the Reels platform.

Templates, interactive stickers, new sound effects, and the option to import your own music are just some of the many features that Instagram has added recently. Both the iOS and Android operating systems now have access to the most recent upgrade, which adds several new functions. Users need just navigate to the Play Store that is associated with their device in order to apply the update.

Since the time when Reels became accessible in India, the picture sharing platform has implemented a number of improvements that aim to improve the quality of the experience that users have overall. Instagram’s goal with the addition of these capabilities is to make the Reels feature more participatory than it has ever been. Amidst rumours that ByteDance is collaborating with other companies to reintroduce TikTok to the United States, Instagram is implementing these new functionalities. The firm has not yet made any public announcements or disclosures.

Instagram notes that it wants to offer users of its Reels feature more space to present their photos and tell a story, thus it has increased the duration limit to 90 seconds. Instagram stated in its official blog post that users will have more time to “reveal more about yourself, record more behind-the-scenes films, delve deeper into the subtleties of your content, or whatever else you want to do with that extra time.”

This past week, Instagram introduced a new notification tool known as Amber alert. With this update, users are now able to view and post warnings regarding missing children in their local region. According to the explanation provided by the company, the Amber alert tool was developed in collaboration with a variety of organisations including the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) in the United States, the International Centre for Missing & Exploited Children, the National Crime Agency in the United Kingdom, the Attorney General’s Office in Mexico, the Australian Federal Police, and others.
