Finally, Instagram has included the ability to permanently remove accounts from within the mobile app itself. That feature did not exist for customers in the past. In order to be in compliance with the most recent rules of Apple’s App Store, Instagram has included the ability to remove an account from within the app itself. All apps that allow users to create accounts within the app must now include a way for users to delete such accounts, according to Apple’s revised App Store Review Guidelines. There used to be a long procedure for closing an Instagram account.
We aim to provide users more options for managing their time on Instagram. A Meta spokeswoman stated, “We have rolled out the option to delete your account via Settings for iOS, and you’ll still have the option to temporarily disable your account before deciding to remove it.

Instagram can only be deleted from a mobile desktop computer browser. Curiously, the app did not provide that choice. Instagram has announced that the feature is now available in the iOS version of the app. Before this, the only way to delete your account was through the mobile app. To some extent, this will render you anonymous within the app, while your data will still be stored on Instagram’s servers. People who want to erase their accounts but can’t seem to do so end up deactivating them instead, not realising that their data would remain on Instagram’s servers even if they never log in.
All apps must now include an option for users to delete their accounts from within the app, per Apple’s revised App Store criteria. According to Apple’s support website, when an account is deleted from the app, the account and any related data are wiped from the developer’s database unless the developer is obliged by law to keep the information.
In this way, applications can let their users feel more in control over the information they provide. Apple requests that developers “please read the instructions below to avoid delays in review” before submitting an updated app or a new app that requires account setup. The Cupertino-giant has also nudged apps to make the account deletion process easier to find in the app. You can find it under the app’s profile settings.
