What is ChatGPT
ChatGPT is the buzz of the down. As in terms of browser wars, Microsoft is always behind. A famous joke that people made about Internet Explorer in the past, and still make about Bing, is that you use these browsers to download Google Chrome. Jokes on Bing but this is a fact as well. As of 22, the share of Google Chrome is more than half, in fact, it is a whopping 65.84% which is more than any other player in the market. One should not forget the number of browsers available, trying to users share.
Microsoft and ChatGPT
Microsoft recently announced the AI-powered search engine Bing and Edge browser which is now available to use on Bing.com. As per the chairman and CEO of Microsoft, “AI will fundamentally change every software category, starting with the largest category of all – search,”, while further adding, “Today, we’re launching Bing and Edge powered by AI copilot and chat, to help people get more from search and the web.”
Once EdgeOS was the talk of the town and Microsoft also had plans back then for integrating AI into its browser but we didn’t see that come to reality. Now here we are finally seeing Microsoft getting in on the act. According to Microsoft, all of these features are driven by an improved version of GPT 3.5, which is the AI OpenAI language model that is responsible for powering ChatGPT. According to Microsoft, it is more powerful than GPT 3.5 and better equipped to answer search queries with current information and replies that have been annotated.
New features of “Chat” and “Compose” in Edge
Microsoft is launching two new AI-enhanced features for its Edge browser: “chat” and “compose.” These will be embedded within Edge’s sidebar. “Chat” allow users to summarise the webpage or document they’re looking at and ask questions about its contents, while “compose” acts as a writing assistant; helping to generate text, from emails to social media posts, based on a few starting prompts.
Where’s Google in all of that
The release of the new Bing comes in the midst of a frenzy of artificial intelligence activity from both Microsoft and its chief competitor, Google, which has been the talk of the town. The popularity of AI text creation and its many other applications have skyrocketed ever since ChatGPT was released on the web in November of last year.
Although ChatGPT is relatively few years old but only caught everyone by surprise recently when it released its latest version ChatGPT 3.5. Microsoft, which has a strong partnership with OpenAI as it invested in the project initially, and now even planning to buy more stake in the company, is attempting to capitalize on this excitement and has already announced the manner in which this technology will be incorporated across its suite of office software products. Microsoft has already integrated AI into its Azure platform and, planning to integrate AI further into Office Applications.
On the other hand, Google has been caught off guard by what some people are calling a paradigm change in the way that consumers search for information on the internet. Reportedly, the debut of ChatGPT caused a “code red” within the search giant, which resulted in the long-absent founders’ Larry Page and Sergey Brin being conscripted to assist with dealing with what may be a danger to the company’s primary source of revenue. After all, the biggest revenue of Google comes from its search engine and Google wouldn’t let that go easily.
Conclusion
Google although launched a rival to Bing by the name of Bard, its live demo didn’t go as Google would have expected. Surprisingly, people are now doing all types of searches on Google like, How to use ChatGPT, How to use ChatGPT on Bing, etc. How the time turns! Will this time be different? Only time will tell that. In the meantime, you can find more about the features of Bing and how to use ChatGPT
