Joker Malware attack: According to Zscaler Threatlabz, the Joker virus infected 50 Google Play Store apps. They were quickly removed from the Google Play store. Remove them from your phone as soon as possible, and then use one of our recommended mobile antivirus programmes to get rid of any malware that may have remained after you removed them.

According to the Zscaler ThreatLabz team, malware from the Joker, Facestealer, and Coper families has recently been detected to propagate via applications. Following a quick notification from the ThreatLabz team, the Google Android Security team rapidly removed the malicious applications from the Google Play Store.

Joker Malware Attack

Among Android malware families, Joker is among the most well-known. By frequently upgrading its trail signatures (which includes revisions to virus code, execution processes and payload-retrieval techniques), this well-known malware may still sneak into Google Play, even though it is well-known. This virus seeks to enrol the user up for expensive wireless application protocol (WAP) services in addition to collecting the victim’s contacts, device data, and SMS messages.

There have been more than 50 distinct Joker applications spotted on the Play Store as of this writing. More than 300,000 people have downloaded these applications, most of which fall into the communication, health, personalization, photography, or tools categories.

The bulk of Joker-infected apps were in the area of tools and communication, which was the most targeted. ThreatLabz discovered daily uploads of programmes infected with the Joker virus, proving the group’s perseverance and high level of activity. The Joker malware campaign is still using well-known methodologies and developer naming patterns, according to ThreatLabz’s most recent discoveries. See our previous blog article, Joker Joking on Google Play, for a more in-depth analysis of this campaign.

Joker malware has infected the following apps in the Google Play Store during the past two months, according to ThreatLabz researchers:
