MacOS 13 Ventura Features you need to know

Published:

During its annual Worldwide Developers Conference this morning, Apple announced the newest version of its desktop operating system. When MacOS 13 Ventura, also known as MacOS 13, is released this autumn, it will have a number of new capabilities for desktops and laptops. (New versions of MacOS are released annually in September.)

Stage Manager, a new multitasking tool, is also included in the latest version of Apple’s mobile operating system. As a developer beta of MacOS Ventura, we’ve put up a list of the most exciting new features you may expect.

MacOS 13 Ventura Features

Stage Manager

Apple’s new Stage Manager function automatically arranges all of your active windows and programmes on the left side of your screen in an effort to aid our productivity. This prevents them from being obscured behind other windows or down in the dock and keeps them visible at a glance. You may continue working in your current application while Stage Manager retains the window you’re in in the middle of the screen.

You may also combine windows and programmes together for certain projects, and modify the windows’ size and location in your focused workspace by dragging and dropping them into place. Stage Manager keeps your groups and the placement of windows inside each group even when you go between windows.

Features of the Message

Every one of us has sent bad messages in the past, and Apple is well aware of this fact. Editing and deleting messages up to 15 minutes after sending is now possible with Mac OS Ventura. As a bonus, you’ll be able to restore deleted texts for up to 30 days. As a means to alleviate the temptation to answer immediately, those who have read receipts enabled can flag messages as unread. For the sake of convenience, these functionalities will be available on iOS 16 and iPadOS 16 as well.

Mail App Features

Gmail and other modern email clients may now be compared to the native MacOS Mail programme thanks to a series of usability improvements. After sending an email, users of Ventura will have the option to cancel the delivery of that email and schedule future emails to be delivered at a later time. Sending an email a few days ago and not hearing back? You’ll be reminded to do so.

Also, if your email discusses an attachment or someone who was supposed to be included, but you failed to attach anything or cc anybody, you’ll receive an alert. Finally, it will be easier to find emails in your inbox. Using the search box in Mail, you may see a list of recent contacts, documents, photographs, and emails before you begin searching.

Tab Group Sharing

It’s a great perk for families or coworkers who plan their vacations together. Share your favourite websites and browser favourites by creating Tab Groups for your friends. It’s possible to create a shared bookmarks page and use it as a landing page. Other members of your shared Tab Group will be able to see the URL of the website you’re presently viewing. (What could go wrong?) It’s primarily designed to facilitate group brainstorming and research. On the other hand, Apple is making it possible to initiate a FaceTime call or a group Messages discussion while the device is in use.

Passkeys

Apple has partnered up with the FIDO Alliance to build Passkeys, a password-free sign-in system that will be available later this year. Passwords are protected from phishing attacks since they are never saved on a web server. Earlier this year, Lily Hay Newman published a piece on Passkeys that goes into great detail, but here’s the short version: Your Mac’s login screen will ask you to pick up your iPhone or iPad and use either Touch ID or Face ID to authenticate your identity instead of entering a password.

You’re logged in as soon as the two devices communicate with each other. In addition to Mac, your Passkeys will sync across all of your iCloud-enabled devices (with end-to-end encryption). You’ll have to use your iPhone to sign in on non-Apple devices. The FIDO digital identity organisation is working with both Google and Microsoft, so comparable features should be available on Windows and Android in the near future.

Continuity Camera

For those of you who have always wanted you could utilise your iPhone’s camera instead of your Mac’s, your desire is about to come true. Continuity Camera is a brand-new feature from Apple. Using it wirelessly is possible. Your iPhone camera will be recognised automatically if you have a recent MacBook with an M1 or M2 CPU. With these capabilities, you’ll be able to take use of similar functions on Mac cameras, such as Center Stage and Portrait Mode, as well. The iPhone camera will be able to be mounted to the top of a MacBook’s display with the help of a circular plastic mount that the firm plans to sell.

Using the iPhone’s excellent optics, Apple tossed in a few more functions. To make your face appear more prominent against a dark background, use the Studio Light setting on your camera. Desk View is a feature that simultaneously displays your face and an above video of your desk. By taking use of the iPhone’s extreme wide-angle lens, the app creates two different perspectives of the same scene. Even at WWDC, it appears as if two cameras are being used—one aiming directly at you, and the other pointing down.

FaceTime

Ventura’s Handoff function lets you to effortlessly transfer a FaceTime call to another device instead than having to re-start the conversation. In other words, if you’re currently making FaceTime calls on your iPhone, you’ll get a popup on your Mac asking if you want to transfer the call to your computer. It’s as simple as clicking a button. FaceTime calls may be started on your Mac and transferred to your iPad or iPhone.
