Microsoft has been improving the productivity of its Chromium-based Edge browser by developing a new sidebar. The Microsoft Edge sidebar, as you may know, provides convenient side-by-side access to many Edge capabilities. This contains the likes of Outlook, Office, Games, and more.
The sidebar in Microsoft Edge is convenient, however, some users find it to be unnecessary bloatware. Thankfully, you can get rid of the sidebar if you don’t want it. A good piece of news for fans of the sidebar widget. The addition of a “favourites” section to the sidebar is currently being developed.
Microsoft is currently developing an update that will bring familiar tabbed browsing to the Edge browser, as shown in the picture below. Alongside other frequently used tools like unit converters, calculators, and online programmes like Outlook, a “favourites” area will be available.
Edge’s change should make the sidebar more helpful, especially if you often open the same sites. If you have many tabs open and need to access related information simultaneously, such as while preparing a presentation for work, this feature comes in handy.

The sidebar in Microsoft Edge is really convenient
Selecting the “Add a tab to the sidebar” option from the tab context menu will add the selected website to the sidebar.
The Sidebar itself serves as an entry point for adding new sites to the list of those displayed there. Simply choose the plus sign (+) next to ‘Customize Sidebar’ and then select the newly available option ‘Add a current page’ to do this. The websites you’ve added will be shown in a list at the bottom of the window.
Microsoft defined the sidebar integration as a new approach to provide users access to Edge capabilities “side-by-side with their browser window” in the company’s official roadmap description. In addition to your bookmarks, you can access Bing, Microsoft Office, and even MSN-powered services like Discover.
The sidebar will improve over time as Microsoft continues to test it. According to the plan, work on the sidebar in Edge is still in progress, although it may be released to early adopters in August 2022.
The next major upgrade to Microsoft Edge will likely contain a new Microsoft Photos app-like integration, allowing users to trim photographs, add messages, apply filters, and more before storing them to local storage.
