You’ll soon be able quickly send Teams messages directly via Outlook Calendar meetings.
Microsoft plans to integrate Teams chat integration to Outlook. Microsoft has been testing the new feature in recent times and Microsoft claims it will be accessible to all users by March 2023.
“This feature makes it easy to access the chat experience for Teams using Outlook within it’s context in a conference for users to either send out a brief message or look over the chat.” is the description of an item in Microsoft’s roadmap for cloud-based services and productivity.
Chat integrations appear to be restricted only to Outlook calendar items. It could be beneficial for participants and meeting organizers to chat about meetings in real time , instead of sending emails between each other.
Microsoft plans to integrate Teams messages into results of searches in Outlook on the internet. The feature is scheduled to launch in February, in conjunction with AI-based suggestions for files in Teams chats. A more comprehensive view of the Teams profile cards will be coming in February, and will feature a an overview that shows an individual’s profile, contact information, LinkedIn information, and many more.
This latest Outlook and Teams integration follows several recent enhancements of Microsoft Teams, including scheduled messages, instant polls in meetings, enhanced results for searching, and the ability to turn off messages that are not read.
While Microsoft continues to enhance Teams every month however, it is looking to settle antitrust issues regarding its bundle of Teams with Office. Slack submitted a lawsuit with Microsoft within the EU about two years ago. Now Reuters has reported that Microsoft has made concessions to European Commission to try and avoid the formal EU antitrust probe.
