Microsoft: Windows 11 KB5015882, KB5015814 updates released

Published:

Reports and Microsoft’s own documentation indicate that Windows 11’s most recent two cumulative updates—KB5015882 and KB5015814—have caused serious problems for certain users. A problem in the operating system might cause the Start menu to vanish as soon as you try to open it.

A new notification function was added to Windows 11 in the most recent optional update (KB5015882). Thanks to a new update feature, you may now choose to get urgent notifications even when using the concentration help feature. Windows 10 has a feature called “Focus Assist,” which is comparable to “Do Not Disturb.”

Additionally, during the OOBE, users will be able to upgrade to a newer version of Windows 11. This implies that feature upgrades can be installed right at the start of the operating system, but only if the device is eligible for the update. Users have complained that KB5015882 disrupts the Start menu, despite the fact that it appears to be a great upgrade on paper.

A rising number of complaints indicate that the Start menu has serious flaws. During our experiments, we discovered that pressing the Start button does not bring up the Start menu. As a result, the Start menu is disappearing for certain users after the latest update.

In Windows 11, the KB5015882 and the KB5015814 problems have been resolved

The Windows key on your keyboard is also impacted by the problem. Even while Microsoft has admitted that KB5015814/KB5015882 affects just a “limited number of machines,” the corporation has taken the necessary steps to ensure that users can use the Start menu.

Clicking the Start button or pressing the Windows key on your keyboard may have no impact on vulnerable PCs.

Server-side fixes for the malfunctioning Start menu have already been implemented, however, it may take up to 24 hours for all devices running Microsoft’s operating system to be automatically updated. If the Start button still doesn’t function on your device, reboot the Windows device so that the update may be applied faster.
