Netflix original web series and programmes will soon include spatial audio capabilities. Many shows, including “Stranger Things,” will be among the first to include spatial audio. The term “spatial audio” can be used by users to find media that has the spatial audio format. The new functionality will be available to users as of today. Netflix was vague on whether or not the release will be available outside of the United States.
Netflix already delivers a terrific watching experience by supporting 4K, HDR, Dolby Atmos, and the Netflix Calibrated Mode. Netflix’s goal is to replicate the theatre experience in the comfort of the user’s own home, and they’re working toward that goal by implementing spatial audio support.
Since the authors’ efforts to immerse you in the tale are carried out regardless of the device you use to watch Netflix, we can say that “Netflix spatial audio helps to convert the cinematic experience of immersive audio to any stereo.” Netflix said in a blog post that as of today, “spatial audio will roll out throughout our collection,” and that users can “hear it for themselves” by searching for “spatial audio” and then choosing a programme or film that supports it from the search results.
Netflix and Sennheiser are teaming up to provide consumers spatial help. Using Sennheiser AMBEO technology, the streaming behemoth creates a virtual surround sound experience for stereo audio that works with any device or streaming service and doesn’t need any special speakers or equipment.
The spatial audio function is activated automatically when you watch a TV show or movie with stereo audio that supports it, so you don’t even need surround sound speakers to enjoy it. On the other hand, if you have surround sound speakers, you should definitely watch TV series and movies in 5.1 surround sound or Dolby Atmos. In order to provide a more realistic surround sound experience with 5.1 surround sound and Dolby Atmos, Netflix now supports Apple’s spatial audio on Apple TV, iPhone, and iPad devices.
