Retailers are reducing RTX3090 Ti prices by half to clear GPU stock.
It’s amazing how much a year can make. Nvidia’s RTX3090 GPUs are so plentiful that many retailers have dropped the price to below $1,000.
Amazon’s Woot subsidiary has the Zotac RTX3090 on sale for $999.99 (Opens in a new tab), a significant discount from its original $1,999 retail price. We’ve seen price drops on Amazon for the EVGA RTX3090 (Opens in a new tab). The price is now just shy $1,200. It was $959.99 earlier in the day, so keep an ear on that listing for any further price drops.
This is a significant change from a year ago, when many RTX3090 models sold for more than $2,000 due to the largest GPU shortage in history. After a spike in consumer buying and a leveling off by cryptocurrency miners, the demand for RTX 3090 models has fallen.
Nvidia’s RTX3090 Ti can be purchased at even greater discounts. It was originally released in March and retailed for $1,999. Some retailers have reduced the cost by nearly half in some cases. Best Buy, for example, is offering the RTX3090 Ti Founders edition model at $1,099 (Opens in a new Window).
Nvidia’s next-generation RTX 4000 series is about to be launched in the next few months, so the price reductions are a welcome development. The company will first clear out GPU stocks at retailers, after having struggled over the past year in meeting rampant demand.
Jensen Huang, Nvidia CEO, stated that Nvidia has also established programs to price-position current products in order to be ready for next-generation products. We are working towards a path that will see us in good health going into next year.
These steep price reductions are definitely a great deal. On the other hand, you will be purchasing a product that is two years old when the next-generation GPUs are just around the corner. It may be better to wait. However, don’t be surprised if RTX 4000 series launches at a high price.
