WhatsApp Beta on Windows 11: WhatsApp Beta (UWP) for Windows 11 is getting another big upgrade with support for two new features — reactions and a full-fledged context menu (right-click menu) (right-click menu).
As you’re undoubtedly aware, WhatsApp Beta (UWP) is based on Windows 11’s contemporary concepts and it also leverages WinUI. Unlike the original desktop client, which is basically a web wrapper, WhatsApp UWP offers a significantly better experience and greater interaction with the operating system.
Facebook’s parent company Meta initially revealed the load of features coming to the messaging app earlier this year. WhatsApp was recently upgraded with emoji reactions, quicker file transfer limitations, and other changes for Android. Similar upgrades are now headed to the Windows 11 version.
In the latest version, emoji replies have been included so that users may quickly and easily respond to communications with a lighthearted and cheerful tone. This functionality is comparable to reactions we currently have in the Facebook Messenger app. However, it’s currently restricted since you may express yourself with a few of emotions only.

You may show your appreciation for a message with a thumbs up, a heart, laughing, tears, or the surprised face with folded hands emoji. WhatsApp has indicated that it aims to broaden the emotions and add support for more skin tones too. These additional responses and tones will be accessible in the future edition.
Thankfully, the emoji responses feature isn’t the only new innovation headed to the messaging app. Facebook is also enhancing WhatsApp’s context menu by providing a contemporary context menu for choosing text in chats.
As you can see in the above example, you can now choose texts and conduct some basic text styling. For example, you can convert texts to preformatted (which allows you share code simply), Italics, Bold, Strikethrough, and more.
It is also able to pick text and click on choices like Copy, Cut, Paste, Undo and Select.
Although there is currently no official word on the matter, it looks that WhatsApp will soon support groups of up to 512 users. This update is currently available in the Microsoft Store.
A number of other enhancements have been made to WhatsApp UWP as well, such as the inclusion of support for dark mode and restricted one-time view for media sharing.
