WhatsApp delete feature to roll out for version 2.22.4.10

Published:

Users will soon be able to erase messages sent through WhatsApp two days after they have been sent, according to a new feature that is being rolled out on the platform’s beta channel. Previously, users of the messaging platform that is owned by Meta had the ability to erase messages up to an hour after sending them. Users are able to retract not just text messages but also media files like images and videos thanks to this function, which also applies to text messages.

The functionality is now being tested on the beta version of WhatsApp for Android, version 2.22.4.10, and was discovered by the WhatsApp updates tracker WABetaInfo. According to the article, users will be able to retract their messages exactly two days and 12 hours after they have clicked the send button. Back in February of this year, the very same journal was the first to notice the emergence of the function. On the other hand, the specifics of its stable implementation on ordinary WhatsApp channels are not yet evident.

It appears that WhatsApp is also working on another another delete-related function, which may be released in the near future. Because of this capability, group admins will be able to erase any messages or media assets that are currently in the conversation. Because it has not yet reached beta channels, it is possible that it will take a considerable amount of time before it is made available to normal consumers.

In the meanwhile, reports indicate that WhatsApp may soon enable users to conceal their online status from certain contacts. This function will be of great assistance to a large number of users who want to conceal their online status from a certain set of people, such as their coworkers in the office. In light of the fact that many people in India and elsewhere across the world are still working from home as a result of the COVID-19 epidemic, it has the potential to be of great help. Additionally, the functionality is presently being developed, and beta users have not yet been given access to it.

A letter that was accidentally shared with the public indicated that Meta intends to introduce WhatsApp Communities by the end of 2022. The functionality, which was made public in April of this year, attempts to improve the quality of group chats. It will enable the administrators of a group to create sub-groups depending on subjects in order to better control the flow of information. This is just conjecture, but there is a possibility that the improved remove option for group managers will roll out at the same time as WhatsApp Communities.
