It is anticipated that several of WhatsApp’s next features will be released this year. WhatsApp is currently working on a broad variety of features. The messaging platform may soon introduce other capabilities such as a blur tool for the media editor, a rapid reply button for status updates, a button to filter unread chat, and more. Now, a recent update suggests that WhatsApp will soon allow you to hide your online status as well. This will be one of the most significant changes to the app, so keep an eye out for it.
People have been able to conceal their Profile pictures, Status updates, and Last Seen locations for some time now, but WhatsApp has never given users the ability to conceal their online status. It would appear that WhatsApp may finally make this a reality as this was one function that the Signal app gave to users, and a lot of people valued having it as an optional privacy tool. WaBetaInfo discovered the new function in the beta version of WhatsApp for Android 2.22.16.12 and even provided a snapshot of it. You may access it from the menu by selecting Settings > Account > Privacy. On this page, at the top of the screen, you will notice an option that reads “Last seen and online.” To make use of that function, all that is required of you is to tap on that.
In the area labelled “Last Seen,” you will notice four different options, each of which is self-explanatory. These are all of my contacts, Everyone else, everyone but my contacts, and nobody else. There will be two choices available in the Online status section: Everyone and the same as the last seen. Therefore, if you do not want anybody to know your online status, you will need to pick “Nobody” in the Last Seen section and “Same as last seen” in the online status part of the section. This will allow everyone to view your online status.
If you have the option to conceal your online status on WhatsApp, then no one will be able to tell if you have opened WhatsApp or not. This is because no one will be able to see your online status. If you opt to conceal your online status and the time you were last visible, the person who sent you messages will never learn whether or not you have read them or whether you are attempting to ignore a specific contact. Please bear in mind that the functionality is still being worked on and will most likely be made available in the not too distant future.
