It has been claimed that WhatsApp is working on a whole new feature called ‘kept messages,’ and WhatsApp unread chat filter which is scheduled to be included in the next upgrades of WhatsApp beta for Android, iOS, and desktops. Users will reportedly be able to keep an expiring message in a conversation for longer than the allotted amount of time thanks to this brand-new functionality. It is believed that all participants in a discussion will thereafter be able to access these messages under the new ‘Kept Messages’ area that has been added to the chat data. In related news, the platform that is owned by Meta has also issued two beta upgrades, one of which brings an unread chat filter and the other brings a list of prior participants.

It has been reported by the WhatsApp feature tracker WABetaInfo that the in-development ‘preserved messages’ feature would enable users to maintain a message in the conversation that is set to delete after a certain amount of time for everyone to see even after the expiry clocks have passed. It is planned that users would have the ability to either keep or delete messages sent to other participants of the chat.
On the other hand, those who administer the group are stated to have the ability to impose restrictions on the use of this function. It is speculated that WhatsApp will roll out new privacy options that would provide group managers with the ability to switch on or off this function.
During this time, it has been reported that an update for WhatsApp beta for iOS 2.22.16.70 is being distributed. As part of the new ‘past participants’ function, it is stated to make it possible for members of a group chat to observe other users who have since left the group. This feature will reportedly make it possible for members to view, in a new area located under the group details, other individuals who may have left the group within the last sixty days.
According to yet another claim by the feature tracker, WhatsApp appears to be in the process of releasing a new beta version of its app for Android version 2.22.16.14. It is supposed to re-enable the unread conversation filter that was purportedly included in an earlier beta version. Users would reportedly be able to make advantage of a brand-new unread conversation filter whenever they conducted a search for chats or messages. It is expected that this filter would make it possible for users to access all of their unread chats, even if those chats have been manually flagged in the past.
