Microsoft Windows 10 22H2 Build 19045 spotted

Published:

The first major upgrade, codenamed “version 22H2,” for Windows 10 is on the horizon. The next major feature upgrade for the older operating system, Windows 10 22H2, has now been unintentionally confirmed by Microsoft as arriving later this year.

Microsoft hasn’t abandoned Windows 10, despite past claims to the contrary. Unsurprisingly, Windows 11 has been getting a lot of attention lately, and new features are being built from the ground up for the operating system. Nevertheless, Windows 10 will continue to acquire new features and bug fixes.

The most recent optional cumulative update has been found to have references to Windows 10 22H2 (Build 19045). Windows 10 22H2 (Build 19045) builds on Windows 10 version 2004 and, as such, does not introduce any major modifications to the underlying operating system.

It will be the fourth consecutive minor upgrade before the release of 22H2. There won’t be any game-changing new features in this update, but some small fixes are still on the docket. For instance, Windows 11 has recently begun rolling out a new search interface.

Microsoft has previously said that Windows 10 feature upgrades will “have a scoped set of functionality” and be provided “using servicing technologies.” Therefore, Windows 10 22H2 will be another enabling package for existing users. This is what Microsoft has said, and it also lines up with evidence seen in the Release Preview Channel.

The enablement package is akin to a toggle that activates latent functionality in the OS and bumps up the operating system/build version. For instance, the OS version and build number will both be updated to 22H2 and Build 19045 thanks to this year’s enablement package.

Windows 10 22H2 may be easily upgraded by anybody who has installed the most recent optional and quality upgrades. Since this update is just a refresh of the Windows 10 version (v2004), the installation and upgrading processes should go extremely quickly.

Getting Ready for Windows 10 22H2

We don’t know what will be included in the Windows 10 upgrade scheduled for 2022, but it’s probable that the update’s focus will be on productivity and security, so users won’t notice many changes.

The rollout is scheduled to coincide with the autumn release of Windows 11 22H2. Therefore, an official announcement is forthcoming, and only a select few will receive the news.

Not only has Microsoft not confirmed the upgrade, but plans are always open to change.
