Windows 11 22H2 Update: New Features

Published:

Final testing of Microsoft’s latest Windows 11 upgrade will begin today, with the release of the Release Preview version. New Start menu folders, enhanced touch gestures, drag and drop for the taskbar, and more are all likely to be included in Windows 11 22H2 when it is released in the next few months.

Microsoft has yet to officially release the final version, build 22621, of the Windows 11 upgrade through Windows Update, but you can download it from the Windows Insider option in the Windows Update area of Windows 11. To join the Windows Insider Program, just follow the on-screen instructions and pick Release Preview as your build preference.

When you use the new spotlight wallpaper feature in Windows 11 22H2, you’ll see a revolving collection of the gorgeous lock screen wallpapers. Additionally, Windows 11 22H2 includes the ability to automatically caption audio for the hearing impaired or anybody who needs it. Floating captions or bottom or top-of-screen captions can be created on-device from any audio material.

A new dark mode and a significantly redesigned interface are both coming to the Task Manager in Windows 11 22H2. It has a black command bar and an efficiency mode for limiting how much system resources are used by programmes. There are new features for Snap Layouts in Windows 11 that make it easier for you to move an app to the top of the window and see all of its available layouts. As part of Microsoft’s Focus update, the company is adding a Do Not Disturb mode. It’s much easier to rapidly mute alerts so that you only see the ones that are truly critical.

As a result of the reintroduction of drag and drop to the taskbar in Windows 11, most users will be pleased. Microsoft has included Start menu folders that can be pinned in order to make it easier for Windows 11 users to organise their Start menu.

Although Windows 11 22H2 isn’t scheduled to be released to devices until later this year, it’s large enough to be installed now, even if you only use it for Live Captions.
