Microsoft has just begun pushing out Windows 11 build 22567 with new features to Insiders in the Dev Channel after introducing much-needed taskbar enhancements and support for Android apps last month. Among other things, the Windows Update mechanism has been revamped, making it more sustainable than ever before. Let’s take a deeper look at what’s new in the newest Windows 11 Insider build.
The newest Windows 11 build 22567 has been revealed by Microsoft in an official blog post. When it comes to the Windows update system’s sustainability, Microsoft states that the background update system will now prioritize natural energy sources like solar or wind power only when considerable volumes of such energy are readily accessible in the system.
Windows Update will use data from platforms such as WattTime or electricity map to find a period when there is more clean energy available to check for updates if you live in a location with recognized carbon intensity. When the feature is live, you’ll notice this additional information about decreased carbon emissions in the Windows Update settings page (see picture below).
This function is designed to lessen the environmental impact of Windows Update. The Settings tab, on the other hand, lets you manually check for new Windows 11 updates whenever you choose.
The new “Your Microsoft Account” page, which was just handed out to all Windows 11 users, is another big update in Windows 11 Build 22567. On the Account tab of the Settings, you’ll now find more details about your Microsoft 365 membership and OneDrive storage space. Update your payment methods and verify your family’s subscription information, as well. There are links here to the online versions of the Office programs for anyone who doesn’t have a Microsoft 365 subscription currently in effect.
This new Smart App Control feature from Microsoft serves as an additional layer of protection for your PC from potentially harmful and unfamiliar programs. When enabled, the SAC function monitors your PC usage to see if it interferes with your normal workflow. In that case, the functionality will be turned off. You may also turn it back on at any time.
There are still more updates to come!
The “Open with” dialogue box in Windows 11 has also been redesigned to match Microsoft’s Fluent Design, making it more modern and contemporary. With the new dialogue box, bright and dark themes may now be used. The modification may be seen in the screenshot below.
It also includes minor improvements like the option to connect your Android phone to your PC during the Windows 11 OOBE (out-of-the-box experience) and tweaks to the animations for multi-finger touch gestures in the Windows 22567 upgrade. Numerous fixes are also provided.
In addition, the new Task Manager and other features from the previous Build version 22557 are now available to all Dev Channel users. Dev Channel Insiders have access to Windows 11 Build 22567; a public release date has not yet been announced. Stay tuned for further information on this.
