Windows 11 Build 22616 is out with amazing features

Published:

In addition to a few bug fixes, Windows 11 Build 22616 is currently rolling out to those on the Dev or Beta channels. There is a new Controller Bar for Windows 11 in this beta release, but we don’t know if it will be included in the final version.

Its name is “Windows 11 Insider Preview 22616 (NI RELEASE)” and it includes a big list of fixes. Version 22H2, which will be released as RTM in a few weeks, offers support for a new Game Bar experience but makes no other significant changes.

An experimental feature named “Controller Bar” may be tested with Build 22616. When you’re playing games, you’ll be able to easily reach your controller thanks to this new innovation. The Xbox button on your controller is all you need to get started with Controller Bar.

When your device is linked to a controller and running the most recent preview builds, it will open immediately. The new Controller Bar allows you to launch all of your favorite and installed game launchers with a single button press.

These are the capabilities available in Windows 11 Build 22616 via the Controller Bar:

  • Using the Xbox button brings you to the Xbox Game Bar, where you can see all of your favourite gaming apps and features.
  • When you’re playing a game, the button sends you immediately to the Game Bar and other widgets.

Three games are now listed under the Controller Bar’s “recently played” section.

Feature additions and fixes in Windows 11 Build 22616

Today’s update does not include a watermark in the lower right-hand corner of the desktop, as did prior ones. This does not signify that the next feature update has been completed, according to Microsoft, despite the fact that the watermark has been removed.

Sources familiar with Microsoft’s intentions, on the other hand, say that Windows 11 22H2 will be released to manufacturing by the end of May or beginning of June.

A significant problem with the “Show hidden icons” flyout was fixed in Build 22616. As a result of user input, Microsoft has added support for the ability to reorder system tray icons.

They will come reintroduced in a future version of Windows but will not be included in this release, version 22H2. Some modifications that appear in the Dev or Beta Channels may not always ship, as we’ve previously stated.

A Microsoft account and an internet connection are required to set up Windows 11 Pro in Build 22616.

The following is a list of repairs and enhancements that have been made:

  • A bug check was issued as a consequence of Microsoft resolving an issue that was slowing down Internet Explorer.
  • Microsoft has patched a bug that was causing app crashes on occasion.
  • The widgets board no longer opens and then closes unexpectedly, thanks to a patch from Microsoft.
  • Microsoft has patched a bug that prevented users from correctly using swiping features.
  • Microsoft has resolved a problem that might have resulted in text appearing as black boxes in some instances of Windows Sandbox.
