Windows 11 build 25188 brings animated icons to the Settings app. Here’s how to enable them.

People who are disappointed by the absence of new features included in the most recent Windows 11 build 25188 will be happy to know that the update comes with an impressive UI modification. As reported by Rafael Rivera, Microsoft is testing animated icons within Settings. Settings app.

The new animations when you click one of the main areas of the Settings app. Microsoft describes these animations as “unexpected moments of happiness that serve a intent,” and they appear all over the operating system upon closing an app, pressing on the center of control, altering the volume or brightness or selecting an item by using drop-down menus.

Microsoft hasn’t yet publically revealed the new animations that will be available in within the Settings app, however you can turn them on using the Vivetool application.

Important: Backup your data prior to using Vivetool. Disabling features that are experimental or hidden frequently produce unexpected results and may cause glitches and instabilities. The only one accountable for the security of your computer.

Enable animated icons in the Settings app in Windows 11 build 25188

  1. Download the Vivetool app from GitHub and extract the files wherever convenient. For example, in the root of drive C.

  3. Open the Vivetool folder using the CD command. Here is an example: CD C:\Vive.

  5. Open the Settings app and click one of its primary sections.
  6. Enjoy the eye candy.

Note that the new icons in the Settings app are just an experiment, which means Microsoft can pull them out of the operating system at any time. Still, for now, you have time to test the new animations and share your feedback with Microsoft using the Feedback Hub app.
