Xiaomi is planning to launch its first smartphone in India as early as January 6, 2022, according to reports. Xiaomi has announced that the Xiaomi 11i Hypercharge smartphone will be launched in the country in the first week of January, according to the company. A rebranded version of the Redmi Note 11 Pro+, which was launched in China late last month, is said to be behind the new device. This is the first time that Xiaomi has confirmed that the new phone will have 120W fast charging support in India, making it the company’s first phone to do so in the country.

Although Xiaomi introduced the Mi 11 Ultra with 67W fast charging earlier this year, only a 55W fast charger was included in the retail box. Aside from that, the majority of Xiaomi, Poco, and Redmi smartphones have a fast charging limit of 33W. It will be interesting to see how Xiaomi manages to bring a 120W charger to the United States of America. Xiaomi’s fast charging technology will undoubtedly give it an advantage over competitors such as OnePlus, Realme, and others who also feature fast charging technology on their devices.

The Xiaomi 11i Hypercharge will be a mid-range smartphone thanks to the use of innovative and superior technology. In India, it should be significantly more expensive than the Redmi Note 10 Pro Max. As of right now, the most expensive variant of the Redmi Note 10 Pro Max is priced at Rs 21,999 in India. The Xiaomi 11i Hypercharge may have a starting price that is higher than that. The Redmi Note 11 Pro+ starts at CNY 1,899 (roughly Rs 22,200) for the 6GB RAM/128GB storage configuration in China, to give you an idea of the price range.

As a result of the global chip shortage and the rising cost of components, we have seen many smartphone manufacturers charge higher prices in India than they do in other markets. The strengthening of the dollar hasn’t helped matters either. The Xiaomi 11i Hypercharge should cost more than Rs 25,000 in India, if all of these considerations are taken into consideration. However, there has been no official announcement from Xiaomi on this matter as of yet.

The fact that Xiaomi is not launching this phone under the Redmi sub-brand is most likely one of the reasons for this. The latter is always associated with products that are affordable and of good value. The Redmi Note 10 Pro Max was the most expensive device in the Note series to be released in India to that point. Evidently, Xiaomi believes that selling a Redmi-branded device above that price point in India will be a bad business decision. It hasn’t happened in the past, to be sure. The Redmi K20 series was also positioned in the same price range as the Mi A1 series. It has always been the only K series available in India.

When it comes to features, the Indian variant should be very similar to the one that was launched in China earlier this year. There will be a 6.67-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, a 4,500mAh battery, and support for 120W fast charging on the phone when it launches. The phone is expected to be equipped with a MediaTek Dimensity 920 SoC, making it the first phone in India to be equipped with this processor.
